Site acceptance testing

SAT punch list software

A site acceptance test can leave findings spread across emails, marked-up sheets and phone photos. A shared punch list connects each finding to the test that raised it, so everyone can see what needs attention and what supports closure.

Keep enough context to act

Describe the observed result against the agreed acceptance criterion. Link the equipment tag, location and original test item so the person doing the correction can reproduce the problem. A photo helps, but it needs a description of what it shows.

  • Responsibility and due date

Identify who will coordinate the correction and when the team expects the next action.

  • Severity and closure criteria

Record the significance of the finding and the evidence needed to resolve it. Use the project’s agreed assessment method.

  • Retest decision

State whether another test is needed, what it will cover and who will review the result.

Separate correction from closure

A correction can be complete while verification is still pending. Kalman FAT Suite provides punch states for Open, Corrected, Ready for retest, Accepted and Closed. Keep closure evidence and the reviewer with the item. Use the state that reflects the current decision instead of treating an email saying ‘done’ as the final record.

Carry the test context from factory to site

Review open FAT findings before starting the SAT. Confirm the installed equipment, interfaces and conditions covered by the site plan, and distinguish carried-over findings from new ones. Keep the phase, original result and follow-up evidence clear so a later reviewer can understand what changed.

One shared acceptance-test record

Give the owner, integrator, subcontractor and inspector a common place to review test results and the actions that follow.
