Acceptance test reporting

Factory acceptance test report

A factory acceptance test report should let a reviewer follow the path from the agreed test scope to the recorded outcome. That is easier when the procedure, results, photos and punch items already belong to the same record.

Give the report a clear scope

Identify the project, equipment, test phase and report revision. List the applicable procedures and reference documents with their revisions. Record who took part and explain any limitations, exclusions or tests that remain for site acceptance.

  • Test results

Show the item identifier, procedure or reference, acceptance criterion, recorded status and relevant comments.

  • Supporting evidence

Keep measurements, screenshots or photos connected to the check they support. Make it clear what a reviewer should learn from each attachment.

  • Open work and review

Include unresolved punch items and the agreed follow-up. Keep preparation, checking and approval information consistent with the project’s review process.

Explain exceptions instead of hiding them

A passed item, a blocked item and an item marked not applicable represent different outcomes. Explain why a check could not be completed or does not apply. For a failed or punch item, keep the finding and follow-up visible. A reader should be able to distinguish recorded test progress from the project’s acceptance decision.

Generate the report from the working record

In Kalman FAT Suite, test plans, evidence and punch lists stay with the project and feed its reports. Review the scope and results before sharing a PDF, and retain the relevant report revision when the test phase changes. This avoids reconstructing the test history from a spreadsheet, a photo folder and an email thread.

Before handover

Test scope, results, deviations and evidence belong together in the record of your acceptance test.

One shared acceptance-test record

Keep the owner, integrator, subcontractor and inspector working from the same test record, then prepare the report from the results they reviewed.
